Basketball Recap: Sunset Falls Short of North Mesquite in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sunset can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 63-28 loss at the hands of the North Mesquite Stallions. The Bison were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Stallions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2015.

It was another big night for Syniyah Grigsby, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds for North Mesquite. Grigsby also grabbed eight steals, which is notable because North Mesquite is undefeated when she posts at least five steals, but 7-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Raygen Brown-Seastrunk, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.

Sunset's defeat dropped their record down to 23-10. As for North Mesquite, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-15.

Sunset does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Mesquite, they will face off against Chaparral at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
