Basketball Recap: Wapato Continues Home Dominance on Friday

There's no place like home for Wapato, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They took down the Naches Valley Rangers 68-53 on Friday. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Rangers are ranked 285th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wapato pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for Naches Valley, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Wapato won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Zillah at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. Zillah knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matches -- so hopefully Wapato likes a good challenge. As for Naches Valley, they will be playing at home against College Place at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
