Basketball Recap: Wayne Academy Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wayne Academy can now relate to. They lost 59-39 to the Rossville Christian Academy Wolves on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 133rd in Mississippi, while the Wolves are ranked 42nd in Tennessee).

Rossville Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Fred Motley led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Motley has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Portwood, who went 5 for 12 to rack up 15 points and five rebounds.

Wayne Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Rossville Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 19-10 record this season.

Wayne Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rossville Christian Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-38 loss against Simpson Academy on the 7th.
