Recap: Fountain Valley Barons vs. Newport Harbor Sailors
The Fountain Valley Barons''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 31-7 defeat at the hands of Newport Harbor. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fountain Valley in their matchups with Newport Harbor: they've now lost five in a row.
Lucas Alexander punched in a rushing scores. Luke Taylor was his top target, picking up 73 receiving yards.
Newport Harbor's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaden O'Neal, who threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jagger Blauwkamp, who gained 79 total yards and two touchdowns.
Fountain Valley has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Newport Harbor, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-5.
Fountain Valley will square off against Brentwood School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brentwood School knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Fountain Valley likes a good challenge. As for Newport Harbor, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Trabuco Hills at 7:00 p.m. Trabuco Hills is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
