Baseball Game Preview: Big Lake Hornets vs. Rockford Rockets

The Big Lake Hornets will square off against the Rockford Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Big Lake took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Princeton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hornets' pitchers stepped up to hand the Tigers a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Caleb Martin was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Meanwhile, Rockford had just enough and edged out Watertown-Mayer 6-4 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Rockets in their matchups with the Royals: they've now won seven in a row.

Rockford's victory was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Big Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
