North is 0-10 against Northwest since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The RedHawks will host the Grizzlies at 5:00 p.m. North will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
North came up short against Winfield on Thursday, falling 24-12.
Kailiegh Griswold was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Lily Graham was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Northwest never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against East as they made off with a 12-0 win. Considering the Grizzlies have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Lilly Hoffman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Emma Leidy was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kam Stubbs, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
Northwest's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for North, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .497. However, it's not like Northwest struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
