Softball Recap: Concordia's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to 11

Concordia had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the St. Paul Lutheran Saints a 16-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Orioles, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Olivia Hemme made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Concordia got a massive performance out of Emily Wilkens, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those three hits gave Wilkens a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addison Roepe, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Concordia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .769. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in 11 consecutive games.

Concordia pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for St. Paul Lutheran, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Coming up, Concordia will take on El Dorado Springs at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. As for St. Paul Lutheran, they will face off against Lone Jack at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Saints will need to watch out since the Mules have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
