Basketball Game Preview: Highlands Owls vs. MacArthur Brahmas

The Highlands Owls will square off against the MacArthur Brahmas at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

MacArthur will be up against a hot Highlands team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Highlands was the clear victor by a 53-32 margin over Seguin on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Owls have won by exactly 21 points.

Elaya Walker was a one-woman wrecking crew for Highlands as she almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. That's the most points Walker has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Gaskin, who had seven points and five rebounds.

Highlands was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, MacArthur waltzed into their match last Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Bobcats 61-28. The Brahmas have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 21 games by 20 points or more this season.

Highlands better keep an eye on Ellie Lee. She was instrumental in MacArthur's win, going 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on her way to 29 points along with eight boards and five steals. Lee has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Zion Zarb-Cousin, who earned nine points and five rebounds.

Highlands now has a winning record of 18-17. As for MacArthur, their record is now 26-8.

Highlands suffered a grim 50-24 defeat to MacArthur when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Highlands avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
