Basketball Game Preview: Inglewood Sentinels vs. Millikan Rams

The Inglewood Sentinels will face off against the Millikan Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Millikan took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Inglewood, who comes in off a win.

Inglewood's tournament run continued when they took on Cabrillo on Wednesday. The Sentinels blew past the Jaguars 86-38. The Sentinels pushed the score to 81-32 by the end of the third, a deficit the Jaguars cut but never quite recovered from.

Kevin Singleton and Jason Crowe Jr were among the main playmakers for Inglewood as the former almost dropped a double-double with 26 points and nine boards and the latter went 10-for-18 en route to 24 points in addition to eight assists and four steals. Crowe Jr has been hot for a while, having posted 18 or more points the last 29 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthew Gibbs-Martinez, who posted ten points and seven steals.

Inglewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Millikan had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of Sierra Canyon by a score of 67-65 on Wednesday.

Inglewood will have to contain Quali Giran as he made an impact in Millikan's last game. He shot 86% from the field on his way to 31 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Wicker, who put up ten points and five assists.

Inglewood didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Millikan when the teams last played back in November of 2018, but they still walked away with an 83-77 win. Will the Sentinels repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
