Football Recap: LaFayette Takes a Loss + How To Watch

LaFayette extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-6. They came up short against the Calhoun Yellow Jackets, falling 35-9. While losing is never fun, the Ramblers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 49th).

Layton Overby threw for 57 yards. On the ground, Zyione Harris rushed for 35 yards.

As for Calhoun, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.2 points over those games.

Calhoun's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justin Beasley, who picked up 103 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Beasley is crushing it when it comes to receiving yards: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Chadwick, who rushed for 42 yards and two scores.

LaFayette does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Calhoun, after each having a week off, they and Lumpkin County will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th.
