Preview: West Florence Knights vs. Dreher Blue Devils
The West Florence Knights will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Dreher Blue Devils at 11:00 a.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for West Florence and ten for Dreher dating back to last season.
West Florence suffered their biggest loss since November 27, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Wilson 66-19. While losing is never fun, West Florence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Wilson is ranked 38th).
Gabrielle Gunter was West Florence's leading scorer, having posted six points. Gunter also led the team in rebounds with seven.
Kara Fluharty took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Meanwhile, Dreher came up short against Swansea on Wednesday and fell 37-29. Dreher has not had much luck with Swansea recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
West Florence's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Dreher, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8.
West Florence was able to grind out a solid win over Dreher in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 40-29. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Dreher's Ayanna Jacobs, who scored 15 points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
