Pinckneyville has won nine straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Herrin has won nine straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Pinckneyville Panthers take on the Herrin Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Herrin took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Pinckneyville, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Pinckneyville strolled past Anna-Jonesboro with points to spare, taking the game 62-44. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Wildcats are ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of 11 wins, Herrin's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Mt. Vernon and fell 71-40. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Pinckneyville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. As for Herrin, their loss dropped their record down to 13-2.

Things could have been worse for Pinckneyville, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-52 loss to Herrin in their previous matchup back in January of 2024.
