Baseball Game Preview: LeRoy Panthers vs. Eureka Hornets

LeRoy is 0-8 against Eureka since April of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Panthers will head out to face off against the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. LeRoy has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for LeRoy's offense. They came up short against Tremont on Wednesday, falling 11-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered against the Turks since April 1, 2019.

Brimfield hit Eureka with a four-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hornets fell just short of the Indians by a score of 8-7.

Eureka got a good showing from Braden Schieler, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Schieler has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Adam Blunier made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Eureka: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Max Stalter also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

LeRoy now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Eureka, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

LeRoy came up short against Eureka when the teams last played back in May of 2025, falling 9-5. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
