Football Recap: Clinton Piles Up the Points Against Pleasant Hope/Halfway

Clinton never let their opponents score on Friday. They claimed a resounding 61-0 victory over Pleasant Hope/Halfway. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 30 points or more this season.

A big part of Clinton's win came down to the chemistry between Debroski Harris and his top target Camden Westendorff. Harris gained 119 total yards and a touchdown while Westendorff threw for 151 yards and three TDs. Harris showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 57 yards.

Clinton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 219 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 162 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

One reason for the win was Clinton's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Mason Shumate was especially locked on to Pleasant Hope/Halfway's QB and sacked him twice. Shumate is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as he's now posted at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Clinton's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Pleasant Hope/Halfway, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Clinton will square off against Harrisonville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pleasant Hope/Halfway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
