Soccer Game Preview: Muskegon vs. Caledonia

The Muskegon Big Reds will head out to face off against the Caledonia Fighting Scots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Muskegon's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Muskegon's offense. They came up short against Byron Center on Wednesday, falling 11-0. While losing is never fun, Muskegon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 391st, while Byron Center are ranked 20th).

Meanwhile, Caledonia kept a clean sheet against Jenison on Tuesday. They won by a goal and slipped past the Wildcats 1-0. The victory continues a trend for Caledonia in their matchups with Jenison: they've now won five in a row.

Muskegon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Caledonia, their win bumped their record up to 7-5-2.

Muskegon might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Caledonia in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Big Reds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
