Basketball Game Preview: Nelsonville-York Buckeyes vs. Meigs Marauders

The Nelsonville-York Buckeyes will face off against the Meigs Marauders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Nelsonville-York and 11 for Meigs dating back to last season.

Nelsonville-York lost 68-43 to Vinton County on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Buckeyes have suffered against the Vikings since January 21, 2021.

Meanwhile, Meigs had to suffer through a 61-23 loss at the hands of River Valley. While losing is never fun, the Marauders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 732nd, while the Raiders are ranked 256th).

Meigs' loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Nelsonville-York, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Everything came up roses for Nelsonville-York against Meigs in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 56-19 win. In that matchup, Nelsonville-York amassed a halftime lead of 43-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
