Softball Recap: Cardinal Stritch Comes Up Short

Cardinal Stritch's last matchup with Toledo Christian could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Tuesday. The Cardinals lost 27-9 to the Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 11-9 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2018.

Cadence Zgurich was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Kennedy Burzynski also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Cardinal Stritch and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Toledo Christian, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-5.

Coming up, Toledo Christian will challenge Swanton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. Cardinal Stritch will be paying especially close attention to Toledo Christian's matchup: after Toledo Christian faces off against Swanton, they'll take on Cardinal Stritch again at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
