Recap: Sunlake Seahawks vs. East Lake Eagles

It was a good run, but the Sunlake Seahawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 70-45 walloping at the hands of East Lake. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sunlake has scored all season.

Sunlake's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was George Clark, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals. Clark is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ricardo Diaz-torres, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.

East Lake found their leader in underclassman Brody Church, who scored 23 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Church hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Brown, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds.

Sunlake's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for East Lake, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunlake will face off against Pasco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pasco will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 640th, while Sunlake is ranked 270th). East Lake will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Mitchell at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Mitchell is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 66.7 points per game.
