Basketball Recap: Vina Comes Up Short

Vina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by the Brilliant Tigers 81-24. The matchup marked the Red Devils' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Makenzie Elrod and Kari Harper, who each put up seven points. Khylee Brooks held things down on the boards with seven rebounds. Layla Hester took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with four assists.

Hadlee Sanderson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Brilliant, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 16 rebounds. The contest was Sanderson's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Moore, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 20 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Vina's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Brilliant, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.

Vina will take on Waterloo at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brilliant, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Brilliant Tigers challenge the Hubbertville Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Brilliant's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
