Softball Recap: Platt Comes Up Short

Platt lost to Wethersfield back in May of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Panthers came up short against the Eagles, falling 18-4. The Panthers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it 17 in a row.

Platt saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Vernon, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Platt's loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Wethersfield, they moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Platt and Wethersfield could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 147th) will meet Maloney (ranked 25th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Wethersfield will square off against Bacon Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (92 vs. 27).
