Softball Recap: Seven Straight Home Wins for Winamac

Winamac strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Argos Dragons a 10-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Brooke Rausch made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Winamac let Corrin Combs and Maggie Keller run wild. Combs went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double, while Keller scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave Keller a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Goodman, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Winamac was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Argos only posted a batting average of .053.

Winamac pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Argos, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Winamac will head out on the road to challenge South Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Argos, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Triton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
