Basketball Recap: Brookland Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Brookland took on Cabot on Thursday. The Bearcats were outmatched by the Panthers and fell 62-32. The Bearcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Zoey Winston and Emilee Coleman certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Winston posted eight points, while Coleman put up nine points. Coleman has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Erica Estes also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Brookland has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Cabot, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Brookland will be playing in front of their home fans against Lonoke at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cabot, they will take on Searcy in a tournament on Saturday.
