Basketball Recap: Cathedral Takes a Loss

Cathedral fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Jefferson on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Jefferson Silver Foxes by a score of 57-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Fighting Irish have suffered since December 22, 2023.

Elnathan Pieri had a dynamite game for Jefferson, putting up 26 points. David Luna was another key player, posting 14 points.

Cathedral now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Jefferson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cathedral will head out to challenge El Paso at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. El Paso will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Cathedral surely won't give up without a fight. As for Jefferson, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Clint at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
