Perry had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They managed a 34-30 victory over the Boulder Creek Jaguars. For the Pumas, this counts as revenge for the 14-7 win the Jaguars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Perry to victory, but perhaps none more so than Talen Frazier, who rushed for 71 yards and three TDs on only nine carries. Kael Snyder was in the mix too, providing the Pumas with two touchdowns.
Defeat or not, Boulder Creek got some senior leadership from Joey Longo and Everett Stano. Longo picked up 223 receiving yards and four scores, while Stano threw for 260 yards and four TDs on only 15 passes. Longo's longest reception was for an incredible 79 yards.
Looking ahead, Perry will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Granite Hills at 7:00 p.m. on the 6th. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 869 yards in their previous games. As for Boulder Creek, they are taking a road trip to face off against Queen Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
