Basketball Recap: Twinsburg Skates Past Steele with Ease

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Twinsburg had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Steele Comets 56-22. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Comets are ranked 553rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Twinsburg was led to victory by Kayla Cellura and Taylor Dye. Cellura went 7-for-11 on her way to 17 points and six boards, while Dye went 7-for-9 to rack up 16 points. What's more, Cellura also posted a 64% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Sweeney, who posted nine points.

Twinsburg was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Twinsburg has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Steele's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-18.

Coming up, Twinsburg will face off against Harding at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Harding will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Twinsburg surely won't give up without a fight. Steele does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
