Baseball Game Preview: Union Mine Diamondbacks vs. Galt Warriors

For the second straight game, Union Mine will face off against Galt. The Diamondbacks will head out on the road to face off against the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Union Mine will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Galt's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Union Mine hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Diamondbacks never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Tuesday.

Andrew Schurmann made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Union Mine is 4-1 when Schurmann posts eight or more strikeouts, but 7-10 otherwise. Schurmann was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Matt Manfredi was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Austin Mastin was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

Union Mine's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-11. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Galt, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
