Basketball Recap: Zaden Branham Key Part of a Team Effort in Wildcats Win

Polk County won against Sweetwater last Friday with 61 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Polk County Wildcats secured a 61-57 W over the Meigs County Tigers. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Tigers back in January, they had to take a 51-36 loss.

Polk County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zaden Branham led the charge by going 9 of 19 to rack up 25 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Those 25 points gave Branham a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Benjamin Webb, who went 6 for 14 en route to 20 points.

Meigs County's loss came despite strong showings from Gavin Malone and Jaxon Hope. Malone went 6 of 13 on his way to 13 points and five boards, while Hope posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Bleu Armour, who put up nine points and five rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Polk County and bumps their season record up to 11-9. As for Meigs County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-19.

Polk County has already played their next matchup, a 90-62 defeat against McMinn Central on the 7th. As for Meigs County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-43 loss against Roane County on the 7th.
