Volleyball Recap: Thomas County Central Starts Season with Win Against Pierce County

Thomas County Central took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Pierce County Bears 2-1. This was payback for the Yellow Jackets, who suffered a 2-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Thomas County Central had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-21, 17-15.

Christian Nixon paced Thomas County Central's offense, picking up seven kills. Nixon got some help from Kate Henson and her 13 assists. Henson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Coincidentally, Thomas County Central and Pierce County will both be playing Valdosta the next time they take the court. The Bears will head out to face the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Yellow Jackets will play them later in the day, at 6:30 p.m.
