Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Oakwood's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Oakwood's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Seeger Patriots. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Cam Harris tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Oakwood let Chase Harrison and Bryson Marcinko run wild. Harrison went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Marcinko got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Oakwood is undefeated when Marcinko posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Carsen Dudley, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Oakwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Oakwood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Seeger, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakwood will face off against Salt Fork at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Seeger, they will take on Riverton Parke at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
