Basketball Game Preview: Fisher Catholic Irish vs. Westfall Mustangs

Fisher Catholic is on a 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Westfall is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Fisher Catholic Irish will finish 2024 at home by hosting the Westfall Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Fisher Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Fisher Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Grove City Christian, taking the game 48-35. Given the Irish's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Eagles are ranked 527th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fisher Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hadli Gillum, who posted 16 points and five rebounds. Gillum is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Snoke, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Fisher Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grove City Christian only racked up seven assists.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westfall). They came out on top in a nail-biter against Logan Elm on Saturday, sneaking past 54-51. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Fisher Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Westfall, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
