Basketball Recap: Zachary Calabro's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Danvers over Gloucester

Danvers was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-47 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gloucester Fishermen. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-55 back in December of 2024.

Danvers lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zachary Calabro, who posted 14 points. Calabro has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Luca Tirella was another key player, going 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points and six rebounds.

Danvers' loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Gloucester, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Danvers will welcome Beverly at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gloucester, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-52 defeat against Cathedral on the 22nd.
