Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Marie Angilau-Lea and Lindsey Tafili Lead Kearns to Victory

Kearns was handed a 26-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cyprus Pirates, sneaking past 34-31. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 51-46 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading Kearns to victory were Lindsey Tafili and Marie Angilau-Lea. Tafili posted nine points, while Angilau-Lea almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Leila Fowler, who had seven points along with five boards and three steals.

Kearns smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matches.

Kearns' record now sits at 7-8. As for Cyprus, they dropped their record down to 0-16 with the loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
