Softball Game Preview: Scurry-Rosser Wildcats vs. Palmer Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Scurry-Rosser will face off against Palmer. The Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Scurry-Rosser has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Scurry-Rosser came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Palmer, falling 12-2. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

For Palmer's part, Kenli Dobie made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Dobie has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 5-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Peyton Yates and Kaylee Adams did most of the damage at the plate: Yates went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Adams went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI Adams has posted since back in February. Marti Williamson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Palmer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.

Palmer is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-13-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Scurry-Rosser, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season.
