Basketball Recap: Rock Hill Comes Up Short

Rock Hill extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-9. They took a hard 48-30 fall against Palmetto Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, the Redmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 701st in Ohio, while Palmetto Christian Academy are ranked 85th in South Carolina).

As for Palmetto Christian Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points over those games.

Palmetto Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elsie Newton led the charge by putting up 12 points and six steals. Another player making a difference was Adelaide Suddeth, who shot 42% from the field on her way to 11 points and five steals.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Rock Hill will take on Chesapeake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Redmen will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups. As for Palmetto Christian Academy, they will challenge First Baptist School at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
