Baseball Recap: Escambia Comes Up Short

Escambia entered their game against Gulf Breeze on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Escambia took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gulf Breeze. If the Gators were looking for revenge after losing 11-0 to the Dolphins when the teams met back in March of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jackson Camargo and Xavier Taylor did some serious damage despite the final result: Camargo went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Taylor scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three hits gave Camargo a new career-high. Tucker Nix also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Escambia and nudges their season record down to 11-4. As for Gulf Breeze, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-4.

Escambia has already played their next contest, a 5-4 loss against Davidson on the 20th. As for Gulf Breeze, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Broken Arrow on the 20th.
