Softball Recap: Russell County Takes a Loss

Russell County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They lost 13-2 to the Opelika Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the fifth time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 16-3 loss on March 8th.

Russell County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryleigh Howard, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Howard hit this season.

Russell County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Opelika, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Russell County will take on Brantley in a tournament on Friday. As for Opelika, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alabama Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Opelika is facing Alabama Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Alabama Christian Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
