Softball Recap: Pope County Comes Up Short

Pope County and Goreville squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Pope County had to settle for second. They lost 11-1 to the Blackcats. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Pirates couldn't push the score so high this time.

Pope County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Fasolo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

Pope County has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Goreville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-17.

Pope County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Goreville has already played their next game (against Elverado), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
