Softball Game Preview: Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils vs. Marine City Mariners

The Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils will face off against the Marine City Mariners at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Grosse Pointe South's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Marine City's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Marine City will be up against a hot Grosse Pointe South squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Blue Devils blew past New Haven 12-3 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Marine City owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Warren Woods-Tower. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Mariners have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Grosse Pointe South's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Marine City, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
