Preview: St. Stephens Indians vs. Bandys Trojans

The St. Stephens Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Bandys Trojans at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Even though Bunker Hill scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, St. Stephens still came out on top. St. Stephens skirted past Bunker Hill 61-58. The victory made it back-to-back wins for St. Stephens.

St. Stephens found their leader in underclassman Hayden Hillman, who scored 19 points. The matchup was Hillman's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jordan Twitty was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Bandys put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against South Caldwell by a score of 63-52.

Bandys' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landon Vaughan led the charge by scoring 18 points along with 8 rebounds. The contest was Vaughan 's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Slaughter, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds.

St. Stephens' victory lifted them to 3-1 while Bunker Hill's defeat dropped them down to 0-2.

Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's match: St. Stephens have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 8.5 threes per game. It's a different story for Bandys, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 per game. Given St. Stephens' sizeable advantage in that area, Bandys will need to find a way to close that gap. St. Stephens didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Bandys in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 54-48 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Stephens since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
