Baseball Recap: Kent County Trojans vs. St. Michaels Saints
Kent County extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-7 in the process. They came up short against the St. Michaels Saints, falling 26-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Saints this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-2 back in March.
As for St. Michaels, their record is now 10-5. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
For St. Michaels' part, Bobby Fink looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Fink has posted since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Pearson Greenwood and Blake Wheatley did most of the damage at the plate: Greenwood went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Wheatley went 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Greenwood a new career-high. Connor Wheeler was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Coming up, Kent County will look to defend their home field on Friday against North Dorchester at 4:00 p.m. As for St. Michaels, they will venture away from home to square off against Pocomoke at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
