The Irvington Vikings will take on the Berean Christian Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Things were looking good for Irvington after they put the first points on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 6-2 to Pittsburg, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The defeat continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost four in a row.
Irvington got a good showing from Devin Patel, who kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Patel has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brayden Jaksa was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in home runs. Matthew Forbes also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Even though they lost, Irvington lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Berean Christian made easy work of College Prep on Wednesday and carried off a 10-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Luke Upshaw made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Upshaw was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Max McTighe was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Berean Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Josh Werner, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Berean Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Irvington, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
