Football Recap: West Grand Piles Up the Points Against Rangely

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Grand). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Rangely Panthers 52-6. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-6.

Landon Lockhart had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 178 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also picking up 49 receiving yards. Those 178 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Jake Trail also helped with three touchdowns in total.

West Grand didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Rangely to a completion percentage of just 35%. The Mustangs hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.19 or higher in four consecutive contests.

West Grand didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Walker Howell and Ruben Hatcher.

West Grand's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Rangely, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Coming up, West Grand is taking a road trip to square off against Soroco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Rangely, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hayden at 7:00 p.m. The Panthers' defense better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 39.2 points per game this season.
