Baseball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Howland's Winning Streak

Howland dropped their record down to 6-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cardinals from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Bode Biggin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Howland: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Richie Ansel, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Cardinal Mooney, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games.

On Cardinal Mooney's side, Andrew Bushey was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs and one double. That's the most runs Bushey has posted since back in March. Kaden Reese also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Coming up, Howland will face off against Canfield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cardinal Mooney, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McDonald at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
