Volleyball Preview: Cromwell Panthers vs. East Hampton Bellringers
Cromwell hasn't had much luck against East Hampton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Bellringers at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
While Cromwell didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Portland on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now won six in a row.
Cromwell was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-22, 25-22.
If Haddam-Killingworth wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played East Hampton, they should've done a better job of containing Kendall Jump. The Bellringers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Cougars on Wednesday with plenty of help from Jump, who had seven aces. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.
East Hampton walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-21, 25-15.
Cromwell's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for East Hampton, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
