Volleyball Recap: Gwynedd Mercy Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

It was a good run, but Gwynedd Mercy Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Mt. St. Joseph Academy Magic by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Magic this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in September.

Gwynedd Mercy Academy wouldn't go down easily and took Mt. St. Joseph Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-18, 25-21, 26-28, 15-12.

Emma Fazio paced Gwynedd Mercy Academy's offense, picking up 16 kills. Fazio got some help from Peggy Dougherty and her 35 assists. Kayleigh Rose controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Gwynedd Mercy Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Mt. St. Joseph Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Gwynedd Mercy Academy will look to defend their home court on Monday against Central Bucks West at 6:15 p.m. Mt. St. Joseph Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
