Softball Recap: Biggsville West Central Makes It 16 in a Row on the Road

Biggsville West Central had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans. Considering the Heat have won seven matchups by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Miley Stimpson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lily Higgins, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Addy Burrell was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs.

Biggsville West Central's victory was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Annawan-Wethersfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Biggsville West Central will be playing in front of their home fans against West Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Annawan-Wethersfield, they will venture away from home to face off against Monmouth United at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans are facing the Red Storm at the right time seeing as the Red Storm are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
