Softball Recap: Fairfield Lions vs. Northwest Mohawks
Fairfield proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by eight) but on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged the Northwest Mohawks out 5-3. The win was nothing new for Fairfield as they're now sitting on three straight.
Caitlyn Quickle made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Quickle was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Quickle wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jobey Hattan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Hattan is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last four games she's played.
Fairfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for Northwest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-4.
Fairfield will head out on the road to take on Wheelersburg at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Wheelersburg's favor is that they have posted big run totals in their last seven matches. Northwest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
