Soccer Game Preview: Melbourne vs. Viera

Melbourne and Viera are an even 4-4-2 against one another since February of 2019, but likely not for long. The Melbourne Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Viera Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Melbourne is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy on Friday. Melbourne took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Tigers are ranked 12th).

Meanwhile, Viera entered their tilt with Merritt Island on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Mustangs. Three seems to be a good number for the Hawks as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Viera pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those four contests. As for Melbourne, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-3-1.

Melbourne came out on top in a nail-biter against Viera in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 3-2. Does Melbourne have another victory up their sleeve, or will Viera turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
