Softball Recap: Hugoton Eagles vs. Southwestern Heights Mustangs
Hugoton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 23-9 to the Southwestern Heights Mustangs. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly 14 runs.
Hugoton got a massive performance out of Maddie Williams, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Olivia Salmans, who went 1-for-2 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Hugoton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Southwestern Heights, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Hugoton and Southwestern Heights will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Eagles are set to challenge their familiar foe Holcomb at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Southwestern Heights will face off against rival Sublette at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
