Basketball Recap: Classical Comes Up Short

Classical lost against Ponaganset back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Classical Purple were dealt an 80-30 defeat at the hands of the Ponaganset Chieftains. While losing is never fun, the Purple can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Chieftains are ranked second).

Classical dropped their record down to 1-10 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Ponaganset, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Classical will head out to square off against Westerly at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westerly is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season. Ponaganset has already played their next contest (against Chariho), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
